BBMP school kids to soon get tabs, English too on the cards

BENGALURU: Two technology firms — Microsoft and Tech Avant-Garde — have joined hands to bring BBMP schools on par with other state and private schools under initiative ‘BBMP Roshini’.

A seminar was held on this issue on Saturday. Nearly 900 teachers from 156 BBMP schools and colleges attended. CEO of Tech Avant-Garde, Ali Sait said the firms will spend between Rs 500 and Rs 600 crore over a two-and-a-half year period for the project. 

“We will be giving tablets to all the teachers shortly. The 17,000 students in BBMP schools will also be given tablets during the next academic year. Solar panels will be set up at schools to ensure the tablets are charged here,” he added.

November 14 will mark the opening of an exclusive TV channel to cater to these students in which experts will teach various subjects.“There will be a major thrust to improve the fluency in English,” he added.
