BENGALURU:  The Karnataka High Court has set October 31 as the deadline for the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) to clean the city.“If Bengaluru is not clean by 31st, you will be responsible then,” a division bench of Chief Justice Dinesh Maheshwari and Justice S G Pandit told  BBMP Commissioner N Manjunath Prasad, who was present in the court during the hearing of a PIL relating to potholes on Saturday.

“Bengaluru will be back to its glory. It has to be a garbage-free city,” the court said while pointing out that there is clear visibility of trees in Bengaluru after putting an end to mushrooming of hoardings.
Observing that BBMP needs to improve its credibility to earn people’s trust, the HC said Bengaluru must see smooth motorable roads. It said it will monitor release of funds by the State for cleaning of SWDs.
