Delegates set off to South America

CHENNAI: Vinod Surana heads up the FICCI trade and investment mission along with Jyotiraditya Scindia, Minister of State for Commerce & Industry to Argentina (May 3) and Uruguay (today).

CHENNAI: Vinod Surana heads up the FICCI trade and investment mission along with Jyotiraditya Scindia, Minister of State for Commerce & Industry to Argentina (May 3) and Uruguay (today).

This mission will further Indian economic and diplomatic interests in South America. The mission delegates will participate in high level business conferences in Buenos Aires, Argentina and Montevideo, Uruguay and is expected to conclude various investment deals in the agri-business commodities, mines and minerals, pharmaceuticals and information technology sectors.

Ties between India, Argentina and Uruguay have been cordial and have been strengthened by high level visits namely the visit of the President of Argentina to India in 2010, high level delegations including visits of a group of Uruguayan Parliamentarians in 2010 and the visit by the Vice President and Minister for industry, energy and mining in 2011.

The delegation will be looking at trade and investment opportunities in the areas of agri-business, commodities, mining, software development (both Argentina and Uruguay have educated and well trained work force) pharmaceuticals, renewable energy (wind & solar) bio-fuels, edible oils etc.
