Accused from UAE flies into police net

A 33-year-old man, allegedly wanted in a murder case in Cuddalore district, was caught when he returned from UAE on Saturday.

Police sources said Jothilingam (33) of Chidambaram, in Cuddalore district, who was wanted in connection with a murder case in Orathur police limits in 2011, had been absconding.

On Saturday, when immigration officials checked documents of Jothilingam, who was arriving from Sharjah, he was caught. Cuddalore districts cops were alerted.

Lorry Kills Two

Two persons including a school student were killed when a lorry with a load of potatoes skidded and fell on its side, trapping them under it near Salem. Police said the lorry, which was headed for Salem skidded when the driver tried to negotiate a curve and fell on its side. Two people standing on the roadside were trapped under it.

Youth Hit by Car

A youth died in Thoothukudi after the bike he was riding, was hit by a car belonging to Azhwartirunagari Union president, Vijayakumar, at the Vagaikulam bus stand, on Saturday.

Police sources said, Vijayakumar’s car picked up speed to catch up with a minister’s car who was going ahead of him and rammed into a two-wheeler.

The rider was thrown off the vehicle and sustained injuries, and was admitted to Thoothukudi Government Hospital.
