Tamil Sudar award for Bharathi Bhaskar

Kamban Kazhagam Ambattur chapter, presented  the ‘Tamil Sudar’ award to well-known orator Bharathi Bhaskar, here on Saturday.

Speaking to City Express, Palaniappan, organiser of Ambattur chapter Kamban Kazhagam, said, “This chapter was started five years ago. For our 50th program, it was decided that the chapter will present an award entitled ‘Tamil Sudar’ to veteran Tamil scholars under the aegis of Sri Krishna Sweets. In the 51st program, we presented this award to T Murugasamy, a Tamil scholar”.

He added, “We conduct a programme on every third Saturday each month for two-and-half hours. In that programme, we provide an opportunity for students to explore their declamation skills. We provide them half-an-hour for the activity. Then we provide one hour to senior citizens to show their skills in speech. Then the awardee will speak for one hour”.

Accepting the award, Bharathi Bhaskar said, “I have been chosen for this award not because of my achievements in the past. It has been presented to encourage me to achieve more in the future.”

Ilakkiya, a college student, spoke on the topic Raaman Aatralum Raavanan Potralum, while well-known speaker and editor of Amudha Surabhi Tiruppur Krishnan spoke on the topic Mandothari Enum Maadharasi.
