The dogged pursuit of the three-wheelers on the bustling roads may become a thing of the past with the introduction of SMS-Autos on October 14. The service, promoters claim, would come to the rescue of commuters who have to make unplanned trips.

All a person would need to do is send an SMS to the call centre along with the pin code of the area they are in. They will receive a reply with at least five drivers currently in the area. The commuter can then contact the drivers directly and proceed. The autos to be brought under the service would have operating meters and abide by the fare structure introduced by the State government.
