Addressing a press conference after announcing the availability of Nokia Lumia 1020 in stores across the country here on Friday, T S Sridhar, director-south Nokia India, said that Nokia has established a new benchmark in smartphone imaging with the arrival of the Lumia 1020.

“The phone is able to produce some of the sharpest images possible by any digital camera thanks to Nokia’s innovative Pureview technology including a second generation 41 megapixel sensor, Zeiss optics with six lenses and optical image stabilisation ,” he said.

He said using a new application called Nokia Pro Camera, the Lumia 1020 reinvents zoom, enabling people to shoot first and then zoom later to discover and rediscover stories that contain more detail than the eye can see.

Available in yellow, white and black, Nokia Lumia 1020 is available at a best buy price of `49,999. Nokia will offer in association with New India Assurance, a year-long complimentary insurance cover at all leading stores. Consumers will also have the option of purchasing the device with an easy six month EMI payment plan.

The device will have an early bird offer with complimentary premium apps worth `1,000 to give consumers a headstart into the Windows Store which has over 165,000 apps. He said the owners of this device on Vodafone will have access to a pack of 2 GB of 3GB data per month for two months at no extra cost. Similarly, the consumers will also have dedicated support from trained Nokia Lumia 1020 experts on the Nokia Careline.

Managing director of Univercell Satish Babu said that sales for Nokia Lumia has picked up significantly during the last nine months.
