Rs 2.9 crore infra boost for MGR film institute

Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Saturday allocated Rs 2.9 crore for constructing a new hostel at the MGR Film and Television Training Institute at Taramani and to upgrade the preview theatre there with modern equipment.

The hostel at this institute was built in 1984 and can accommodate only 35 students. Since the number of students have gone up now and since new courses like Animation and Motion Picture Visual Effects are being started taking the total number of students to 240, a new hostel with facilities like restaurant, reception centre etc., has become necessary. The CM  has allocated `2 crore for this purpose.

Similarly, the preview theatre in this institute has been renovated at a cost of `99 lakh.  To improve the quality of this theatre further, the Chief Minister has allocated `90 lakh for upgrading it with modern equipment.  

To enhance the quality of this preview theatre, 15 KVA online UPS would be installed.
