Miscreants break windows of car, scoot with Rs 4 lakh

Unidentified persons broke open the window of a car parked at Pondy Bazaar on Tuesday and stole `4 lakh from the vehicle.

According to police, Rias Ahmed, a resident of Palkalai Nagar in Palavakkam, lodged a complaint claiming that the cash was stolen from the car which he had parked before going for shopping in the area.

“We have registered a case based on the complaint. However, we are yet to verify the authenticity of the claim and we are questioning the complainant,” a personnel attached to the Pondy Bazaar police said.

28 kg Silver Stolen from Jeweller

Police are on the lookout for two employees who were working for a city jeweller, for allegedly stealing 28 kilogrammes of silver from the unit.

Lalu Maatha Pawar, who runs a silver ornaments making unit at Elephant Gate area, lodged a complaint on Wednesday alleging that Rubesh and Gurulal, who were working with him, had absconded with a huge amount of silver.

Police said the duo were working in Pawar’s unit for the past few years.

He grew suspicious as their mobiles were switched off recently and when he checked the stock he was shocked to find a huge amount of silver missing.

The police have registered a case and are on the lookout for the two.
