Activists of Save Tamil Movement and IT professionals at the SIPCOT staged a demonstration demanding immediate arrest of killers of Uma Maheswari, here on Monday evening.

The agitators pressed for implementation of a sixteen-point charter, including the demands like adequate illumination in SIPCOT corridor and neighbouring Navalur, Sholinganallur, and Keelambakkam; installation of CCTV cameras; and frequent shuttle services.

The also demanded suspension of SIPCOT official for failure in ensuring safety, a  permanent police booth, frequent patrolling and a dedicated helpline, among others.

Demanding that the employers provide shuttle services throughout the day, given the flexible timings and shifts, the techies urged them to extend the facility on weekends as well.
