'Silk India -2015' to Showcase Weaves from Across India in Chennai

On the occasion of Varamahalakshmi Festival, Hastashilpi is organising a 10-day exhibition called ‘Silk India -2015’.

CHENNAI: On the occasion of Varamahalakshmi Festival, Hastashilpi is organising a 10-day exhibition called  ‘Silk India -2015’. The event will be held at Valluvar Kottam, Nungambakam, from July 3 to 12. Various silk saree weavers, handloom clusters and silk co-operative societies will be showcasing their products. The organisation is aiming to take products directly to consumers from weavers.

“The is looking at making products accessible and attainable for customers, without the moderator to the weavers and artisans,’’ said Hastashilpi organiser T Abhinand.

From Arani silk saris, crepe and georgette silk saris, chiffon silk saris, tassar silk sarees and suit, Kanjeevaram Silk Sarees and Wedding Saris, etc.

“Apart from these, silk shawls, uppada, gadwal, paithani sarees, mangalgiri and pochampalli silk saris from across weaver belts in the country, will be available at the silk expo,” he added.
