Value-Based Education is Important, Says Governor

CHENNAI:Sri Sai Ram Engineering College conducted its 16th Graduation Day for undergraduate and postgraduate students recently at Sri Leo Muthu Indoor Stadium on the college premises.

Governor K Rosaiah delivered the Graduation Day Address and awarded degrees and gold coins worth 25 lakh to the four gold medalists and 150 rank holders of the institution.

“Education does not end with merely obtaining a degree. In this challenging era it is imperative that one gets well acquainted with knowledge and skills. The nation needs more researchers and scientists, entrepreneurs, management gurus, academicians and administrators to lead it in all spheres,” he said.

“The education imparted should not only be knowledge based, but should also be value oriented. It should mould the youth into dedicated and patriotic citizens. Value based education is the need of the hour,” he added.

A total of 1,202 graduates received their degrees on the occasion.  MJF Ln Leo Muthu, founder and chairman, Sairam Group of Institutions, presided over the function.  C V Jayakumar, principal, Sri Sai Ram Engineering College and J Sharmila Rajaa, Trustee – Sapthagiri Educational Trust were among the dignitaries who attended the ceremony.
