German Consul Urges Women to be Agents of Change

CHENNAI: Achim Fabig, Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany said, “Be the agent of change in your own right playing out whatever role you want to excel in,” at the founding day of MOP College for Women, on Wednesday.

Comparing the women in post graduate research and those in boardrooms Consul General Achim pointed out that it was mainly through education and girls’ own initiatives that they can help make a difference. Government High School, Kotturpuram and the MOP  School,  Triplicane were selected as part of this year’s social outreach initiative of the college.

Winners of an oratorical competition held for the first year students ahead of Founders Day received the prizes from the  Consul General. Also present at the function were secretary of the college, Manoj Kumar Sonthalia and Principal Lalitha Balakrishnan.

The college band presented an a capella and a western classical recital before moving to a dance recital performance by the students depicting the life of Krishna. The college that started on July 13,1992 has grown by leaps and bounds and has become a premiere educational association, excelling both in sports and academics.
