CHENNAI: Behindwoods.com, an entertainment portal, will be organising a gala event that will award the talent in film industry on July 19. A total of 81 awards will be given in 67 categories at ‘Behindwoods Gold Medals’ which will be held at Hotel Grand Chola. The event on Sunday will also see the launch of a unique idea termed as ‘Wall of Fame’ that will feature 83 people from the industry.
In respect of the late legendary director K Balachander, K Balachander Gold Medal for Excellence in Indian Cinema will be awarded to a person who has contributed significantly to the film industry. Kamal Haasan will receive the medal this year. Rajinikanth will receive lifetime achievement award.
Legendary musician late MS Viswanathan and Aachi Manorama will be awarded the golden legacy medal. Lyricist Vaali will recieve the medal for Legendary Performance 2014 for his work in Pannaiyarum Padminiyum, Kochadaiyaan, Kaaviya Thalaivan and Ramanujan. AR Rahman will receive the medal for Music Excellence 2014 for his work in Kaaviya Thalaivan and Kochadaiiyaan. Talented people in still photos, DI coloring and dubbing will also be awarded.
