CHENNAI: A two-year course on infertility will soon be available in government medical colleges in collaboration with Aakash Fertility Centre, said director of Medical Education Dr S Geethalakshmi. Speaking at Ferticon 2015, the 5th National Symposium on Fertility and High Risk Pregnancy, she said, “Infertility is on the rise in Tamil Nadu compared to North India. Ferticon is an eye opener for the infertility issues in Tamil Nadu.” Dr Geethalakshmi also spoke about the future planning of Uterus transplantation in Tamilnadu with help of experts in the field. Following the inaugural function, a Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Dr Hirishikesh Pai. He has introduced numerous path breaking and pioneering techniques in the field of Assisted Reproductive Technology. He is an Assistant Adjunct Professor at East Virginia Medical School, USA, and current president of the Indian Society for Assisted Reproduction or ISAR.
