Pab David makes a living hopping from one party to the next. In fact, he’s known for his cocktail concoctions all the way from Chennai to the Andamans. And having climbed the ladder from your regular bartender to starting up the Puducherry Academy of Bartending, it’s easy to understand why. So, if you’ve always wanted to learn the art of mixing a drink, this weekend would be a great time to clear that calendar.
The 32-year-old will be conducting a masterclass on mixology at Ashvita Bistro in Alwarpet on Saturday. Covering everything from techniques you’ve likely never heard of (like the Mudding method) to James Bond’s famous ‘Shaken, not stirred’ - look forward to a weekend high on spirits and creativity on ice.
Also, a highlight to watch out for is a 10-minute flair bartending show, which promises to turn on the heat even if you’ve been sipping on chilled mocktails all night. How long will these skills take to pick up, we wonder. “Well I dropped at least 60 bottles before I got it down,” David admits with a laugh. “It’s tough!”
While most people spend their weekends unwinding after work, it’s no surprise that Saturday and Sunday are David’s busiest, and often has him entertaining well into the wee hours of the next day. “But I can’t complain,” he reflects with a smile, “I love my job.” Now how many people who pull all-nighters in the office can say that?
