Wise advice

Put things on paper and sign it

CHENNAI: C Rama Krishna Reddy, Spoors Technology Solutions India  strongly believe team and execution play an important role in making a start-up successful. By team, I mean not just co-founders, but also core team members, initial investors, advisors and partners too. Initially, while recruiting core team-building, I had taken into account their talent and willingness to work for low package. A few of them, however, left as soon as they got better opportunity.

That’s when I realised attitude and culture are two extremely important things too. I decided to sieve candidates by offering half of the salary that they are already earning and asked to work for a couple of months like that. If their performance is satisfactory, I offered them full-time employment with decent package and stock options. This has worked really well for me. Team building may be time consuming and may take from weeks to months, but it is worth spending that time rather than wasting it on wrong candidates.
