2-day Conference at Soka Ikeda

The department of social work and human resource management at the Soka Ikeda college for women held a two-day international conference on social responsibility, ethics and sustainability on their campus. The event was attended by board members and fellows of Ikeda centre for peace, learning and dialogue, apart from the college faculty and students who were all ears to the lectures given by research scholars. “Social responsibility is a sustainaible thing, and it mostly begins from the family,” said John Jacob, research scholar from HBI college.  

Bridgestone Donates `1 Crore

Bridgestone India has announced a contribution of `1 crore towards the PM’s National Relief Fund for flood affected people in Chennai. The donation is aimed at providing aid to the affected people of Chennai for their speedy recovery, along with the re-building of infrastructure destroyed during the floods. In line with the company’s ‘serving society with superior quality’ mission, it has contributed towards the rehabilitation of the victims of the floods in Kashmir in 2014 by donating `1 crore to the PM’s Relief Fund.

Blood Donation at Guru Nanak

The NSS units of Guru Nanak College organised a blood donation camp recently. M Selvaraj, principal, inaugurated the camp and motivated the students to enrol themselves in large numbers. The chief administrative officer B Balasubramani visited the camp and encouraged the students for this noble cause.  Around 500 units of blood were collected from students and staff of the college and donated to hospitals.

Caritas India Rebuilds 738 Homes

Caritas India will end its four-phase floods response programme by rebuilding and renovating 738 flood-hit houses in TN. The housing scheme will contribute `1.32 crore for renovation and supply of non-food commodities. The organisation has contributed `2.6 crore towards relief.
