CHENNAI: Two men were arrested by the Ashok Nagar police on Sunday for their alleged involvement in a burglary at a house in West Mambalam two weeks ago.
Police said that about 62 sovereigns of jewellery were stolen from S Anand Narayanan’s house at Moorthy Street here on February 19. Meanwhile, a CCTV footage recovered from a junction there showed two youths moving suspiciously in the same area on the day the burglary happened.
A special team, which was formed to hunt down the duo, intercepted them during a vehicle check in the area on Saturday night.
The accused — S Marimuthu (24) and V Rajesh (24) of Kundrathur — confessed to their crime during the probe, police said, adding that they were involved in break-ins in Kumaran Nagar and Velachery too. About 40 sovereigns and a two-wheeler were recovered from them. The duo were remanded in judicial custody.
