'God is right at home as my daughter'

CHENNAI: Asmita Madhu is an independent visual effects producer for domestic and Hollywood movies. She is well known for her VFX projects like Justin Timberlake’s In Time, Jake Black’s Gulliver’s Travels, Kamal Haasan’s Viswaroopam and Ajith’s Billa 2. She also happens to be a popular blogger who writes about food, fashion and lifestyle. She opens up on god and spirituality:

How often do you visit places of worship and what was the recent place that you had been?

Whenever we get a call from the almighty, we do try and visit. Recent one was to the Mylapore Kapaleswarar temple. He is one of our neighbours. “Love thy neighbour as yourself”

What does spirituality mean to you?

Spirituality to me is oneness and contentment. Good food, good work and good time with family, all give happiness and contentment. The feeling of togetherness is very spiritual and special.

Have you had any funny encounters during any of your pilgrimages?

Oh yes, some years back when my mother wanted to visit Tirupati Balaji temple from Nashik, a guy who used to visit the temple every month or two offered to help in every possible way, from tickets to even accompanying us, so that was supposed to be a smooth journey. But guess what, it turned out to be the other way round. After we entered the train, we realised that we did not have confirmed tickets.

What if god was a small kid?

She is. I have one at home (my daughter)

What if god was a rock star?

What if? He already is. Go to any temple, gods (idols) made of rocks are worshipped. If he wouldn’t have been a star, how would he have such a huge fan following?! (laughs).
