Ashutosh Shukla is New Chennai Police Commissioner

Following the recommendations of ECI, the state home department appointed Ashutosh Shukla as the Commissioner.

CHENNAI: Following the recommendations of Election Commission of India, the state home department on Sunday appointed senior police officer Ashutosh Shukla as the Commissioner of Police, Chennai City.

Ashutosh Shukla who was serving as the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Prohibition and Enforcement wing would take over from T K Rajendren. Shukla would become the 102nd Commissioner of Police.

In another transfer, ADGP, Law and Order, J K Tripathy has also been relieved of his position and Coastal Security Group ADGP, Sylendra Babu will be replacing him, an official release said. Sunday's transfers comes a day after the ECI appointed DGP K P Mahendran as the DGP (elections). Three other police officers in the state were also shuffled on Saturday.
