Misunderstanding, a barrier to build relationships

Understanding others is a skill which very few of us possess, because understanding is a two way process, but unfortunately we understand only those things that we like to hear. Sometimes it might so happen that, by our very nature, we might not like the views, culture or lifestyle of a person. But this happens because we consider our own views, culture or lifestyle as the best. It may be due to our vain pride, which produces irritation in our eyes and blurs our vision, giving us a distorted view. The root cause of this problem is our bias, prejudices, and wishful thinking that work as barriers to understanding of the others and create conflicts in our relationships.

There is a thin line between understanding and misunderstanding. Misunderstanding is a dangerous disease that covers our mind with bacteria and spoils its wholesomeness. Infact its like cancer, which kills the goodwill of a person if its growth reaches the third stage. It is also the precursor of many bad events. Even a small misunderstanding may make a person’s attitude towards us hostile and may block his future rapport with us.

Thus, misunderstanding is a signal for the start of a big parade of problems. So, for having a better world, it is essential that we have better understanding. And in order to create proper conditions for it, we should always be cordial, dear, approachable and easy and should communicate and show concern for each other’s well-being and have humility and honesty. These are the qualities that prevent, reduce and remove misunderstanding and sustain understanding. If our conscience is clear and expressions are courteous, polite and precise, then there will be very little room left for misunderstanding, which in turn would make our life smooth, happy and make the world a better place to live in.
