CHENNAI: What happens when four sisters and design enthusiasts from different backgrounds come together to create jewellery and accessories? Let’s find out…

Kanchi Jain and Hetvi Vira, both 21, started a venture in Mumbai two years back that created art-deco inspired pieces. With expansion plans underway, they brought in their sisters Khushbhoo and Krishma from Chennai and Hyderabad respectively to manage operations, design and everything in between.

Known for customisation of bags and accessories, they have everything from neck pieces, earrings, handcuffs wallets, totes and more. “Our designs are different from the rest because of shape, size and prints,” smiles Kanchi.

Khushbhoo gives us the details. “We design the products together, after looking at different photos, fabrics. For instance, tan bags are in this season. They go with everything!” The team is all about customisation, and Khushboo opines. “If they want a different design, it can be done. Everything from extra pockets to different fabrics.”

The four sisters borrowed money from their parents for initial investment and kick-started with exhibitions. “We divided funds equally and continued producing. Now we are able to invest by ourselves,” she says. So who is a Bliss girl? “Every girl will find something for herself here. Everything from bag packs for a tomboyish person to dainty clutches,”
Khushboo says.

The team emphasises on trends. “It’s very important to follow trends, otherwise you’re just outdated. People follow trends whether they like it or not,” Khushboo avers.

We ask her for her opinion on personal style and expression, and she says, “You can make a trend your own too. Change it according to your comfort level.” Is there a trend she hates? After a long pause, she says, “Bell bottom jeans,” she says.

A lot of research goes into play before starting a new collection. They browse through several magazines, check out all the fashion shows, observe other designers’ collections and are updated about style of the season, and design accordingly,” she smiles.

They plan on starting an online store, open in more cities and work with fashion bloggers to promote their products. They are also coming up with new designs for their travel range, and we have our fingers crossed for what’s in store!
