CHENNAI: Nothing matters in the game zone, but the illusory world and virtual fights. Gaming in India is slowly gaining a professional ground and the winner of the ‘SuperNova qualifier Bangalore 2016’ , Nayan Kumar says that he still has loads to achieve.

“I didn’t know about gaming tournaments till I was 16. Since then I’ve put my gaming to the professional front,” says the 24-year-old who is also the founder of the team, ‘Mission in Stealth’ one of the teams in Indian CGSO (Counter Strike-Global Offensive).

Having played in more than 50 tournaments and leagues as a team and six tournaments in solo, the gaming geek is working in Tier two (power to help the games run faster) and hopes to reach top in Tier one soon.  Although he has expertise in the most played games like Need for Speed series, Grand Theft Auto, Call of Duty series, Medal of Honour, FIFA series Tekken, Naruto and NBA, he views the Counter Strike and Dota 2 a lot more seriously.

“I see my games more as a challenge that helps build an individual, the ability to think and solve problems. And in a team its more about trust and confidence,” he says. When asked which game was his favourite, “Counter Strike, of course! It is paradoxical. It is simple and strategically complex at the same time. It make us to think outside the box,” states the gamer who is also a part-time movie geek
and traveler.

Kumar doesn’t keep track of his awards and cash prizes won but the most significant was the cash prize of `75,000 won at Bengaluru International Exhibition this year as a team. “I was announced as the Finalist of Logitech FTP Season one 2014. That’s a memory I’ll always remember because, that was what gave me the push to invest more time into gaming,” he states. The five-member Mission in Stealth team also treasures their win as the Finalist of ASUS ROG India Qualifiers Bengaluru-2016 and Finalist of Mountain Dew Arena Online Qualifier #2 -2016.

The advanced gaming gears with high specifications that he owns, excites him but he also enjoys playing on his PS3 and PS4 with his friends.  Apart from field work, he also hosts gaming tournaments in Bengaluru and is the admin and coordinator of such events. With a fully supportive family, friends who back him up at every step of life and his MIS team, he plans to achieve international tournaments in the coming years and make MIS the best team in India.
