CHENNAI: A man aged 35 was killed allegedly by his elder brother following a wordy quarrel at their house at Thorapakkam on Monday night.
The deceased was identified as A Ravi. Police said the murder was committed hardly two days after the two had lost their brother to cancer. The quarrel was over who should settle the funeral expenses.

Police said Raghupathi (29), younger brother of Ravi, died of cancer and the final rites were completed on Monday. “The same day, Usha, the siblings mother, asked her elder son Raju for money to settle the bills. Claiming he did not have money, he got into a verbal altercation with her.

Ravi who tried to intervene got into an argument with Raju. In a fit of rage,  Raju hit his brother with a stick and the latter collapsed.  Assuming that his brother had fainted, Raju carried him and left him on the bed,” a police official said.
Around 2.30 am, Usha found blood stains on Ravi and he was dead.
A case was filed by Thorapakkam police who arrested Raju. He was remanded to judicial custody. The body was sent to government hospital for autopsy.
