CHENNAI: A Russian nuclear firm is using animation as a medium to spread the message that the safest source of energy on the planet is a ‘peaceful atom’. This is to spread an awareness about nuclear energy and to dismiss allegations about the safety of the nuclear power plant in Koodankulam.

Atomstroyexport Engineering Company (ASE EC) in partnership with the creative group of international TV channels for children and youth, Carrousel and Mult has started work for creating an animated cartoon.
“The concept, scenario and main characters of the feature film are being developed specially for the Indian audience with an account of the specifics and abundance of traditions, history and culture. I’m sure that the cartoon will be very interesting, educative and bright,” said the head of the Communication Division of JSC ASE EC, Nina Dementsova.

“An animated cartoon is famous genre of all children. It is clear and fascinating. The language is clear for all age categories, various nations and peoples and allows to vividly and emotionally deliver the ideas, which are affined to the Russian people, to a wide range of people. For that very reason we selected the animation genre for implementation of a new project which may be recognised as unique in many aspects,” she added.

This comes as Chennai hosted the three-day festival of Russian animated cinema, organised by ASE EC in partnership with the creative group of international TV channels from July 25 to 27.
