CHENNAI: This weekend, Satsang foundation organised a two-day discourse on the Chapter 6 of the Bhagavad Gita, enunciated by Sri M, the founder of Satsang Foundation and well-respected spiritual guide, social reformer and educationist. To a packed hall at the Music Academy auditorium, Sri M recited verses from the ‘Dhyana Yoga’, chapter six of the Gita, explaining the verses using practical examples.

“Considering man is never satisfied with just one car, or one house, or just anything for that matter, happiness and energy that we seek is within ourselves. We naturally know there is something infinite, and by reaching out for more, we can reach it. But we don’t know it’s inside all of us. That’s the comedy, or perhaps, tragedy,” he chuckled along with the audience.

Likewise, the evening followed with readings of the Gita interspersed with explanations. “One should uplift one’s lower self by the higher self. One should not downgrade oneself — because the self is also your friend, and also your foe,” he read, translating the verse from the Gita.

Explaining the verse, he said that we have two selves in us, one which acts in a low way (when completely selfish) and in a high way (when it expands and sees everything as one). “For a person who has conquered the mind (the lower mind with the higher mind) the inner self remains steady,” he added.

Laced with practical examples, he enlightened the audience about a spiritual understanding of life and being.
