Battle for AIADMK's 'Two Leaves' symbol to resume today

The Election Commission of India will hear the dispute over the Two Leaves on Monday.

CHENNAI: The joint coordinator of the official faction of AIADMK, K P Munusamy, expressed hope that they would get the party symbol as the Election Commission of India (ECI) will hear the dispute over the Two Leaves on Monday.

“The Sasikala side has submitted fake documents to substantiate their claims. It came to light during the last hearing. So, we will naturally get the Two Leaves,” he told reporters at New Delhi.

He added the intention of the Sasikala supporters was to delay the process and scuttle the chances of the official faction getting back the symbol, which was actually frozen by ECI following complaints from the AIADMK rebels led by the current Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam.

Munusamy, who was a vocal figure of the rebels before merging with the faction led by Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, said that none of the 1,877 affidavits filed by their side was fake.
“All that we submitted before the Commission is authentic,” he affirmed.

Referring to the rumblings within the EPS-OPS camp after the merger, Munusamy stated that grassroots-level cadre might be having some differences but they would be sorted out soon.
