Judge now wants factoids on anti-NEET agitations, arrests

Justice N Kirubakaran of the Madras High Court, in continuation of queries he raised on the issue relating to NEET on September 12, posed another set of questions on Tuesday.

CHENNAI: Justice N Kirubakaran of the Madras High Court, in continuation of queries he raised on the issue relating to NEET on September 12, posed another set of questions on Tuesday. Among other things, the judge directed the State government to clarify how many protests/agitations were made against NEET by students and their parents and political parties and whether they were held in a peaceful manner or not? How many cases were registered and persons arrested?

Whether any organisation was held responsible for instigating the students to stage the protests, apart from political parties? Why not the government sensitise school children and students about the law declared by Supreme Court in the case of Sankalp Charitable Trust and the other directives regarding NEET and the necessity to prepare them for writing NEET?

Why not the government sensitise the students and their parents about the legal complications and consequences in case of students’ participation in protests and consequent filing of cases? and whether literature, articles connected with NEET are circulated to students or not, the judge asked.
He then posted the matter for further hearing on Wednesday (Sept 20).
