CHENNAI: Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Thaawarchand Gehlot inaugurated a special school education building and a bus service for persons with disabilities (PwD) at the National Institute For Empowerment of People with Multiple Disabilities (NIEPMD) campus on Friday, a release said.
The `3.17-crore special education block will have 25 rooms which will facilitate the special teacher-education programmes and conducting research in special education. It is expected to help produce over 200 special education professionals every year.
The first of its kind PwD accessible bus which will be sponsored by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd, will accomodate 39 Pwds.
