NEW DELHI: A 65-year-old retired government employee, who hails from Kerala, was found murdered at his flat in Samachar Apartments in Delhi’s Mayur Vihar on Wednesday afternoon.

The victim Vijay Kumar stayed at the fourth floor of a building in the housing complex with his wife, and the couple along with their daughter had moved there around a month ago, said police.

His daughter Ambili who works as a producer with Rajya Sabha television also stays with her husband and two children in the same housing complex in different flat.

The incident came to light around 2 pm when Kumar's daughter Ambili came to the house to check on him as he was not taking phone calls for quite long and her mother, who works with the Income Tax department, was in office. Ambali used to visit her parents every day.

She found Kumar lying in a pool of blood with multiple stab injuries in his chest and abdomen, she raised an alarm, following which a neighbour rushed there and called up the police, an eyewitness said.

“I thought that father had left the doors open as he knew I would be visiting him after work", said Ambali, victim’s daughter. She went inside and found the LED TV lying on the floor in the hall and other items lying upside down. She rushed to her father’s bedroom and found him lying in a pool of blood on the bed.

Senior police officials along with forensic experts reached the flat and lifted important evidence from the murder scene.

“The body has been sent to a government hospital for autopsy. We are waiting for the autopsy report to ascertain the nature of injuries on victim’s body. No weapon was found inside the house. A temporary help employed by the victim is missing after the incident,” the officer said.

A case of murder has been registered in connection with the case.

“There are nine CCTVs are installed just at two entry gates of the society. The security officer claimed that no one is allowed entry inside the society without entry in visitor register,” said a police official.
