Dog beaten to death in Delhi Technological University campus

Alleged video shows that a guard, allegedly from the DTU, is seen beating the canine on its head repeatedly, to its death.

NEW DELHI: Delhi Technological University (DTU) faced a protest from animal activists after a video went viral, showing a dog publically beaten to death on the premises on Friday evening. Later, a complaint was filed with the police by an activist but so far no case has been registered. Video was allegedly shot on Thursday evening. A complaint by the activists was also gave at Shahbad Dairy police station following the protest.

Alleged video shows that a guard, allegedly from the DTU, is seen beating the canine on its head repeatedly, to its death. According to the activists, who took to the campus on Friday, they got a complaint from someone reporting that a dog has been killed on campus.

In his complaint, Saurabh Gupta, from ‘People for Animal’, said, “We got a complaint reporting that a dog has been killed and dumbed in front of room number 110 of the university hostel. We were also told that a video of the act has been shot and uploaded on social media. When we reached the campus, initial inquiry revealed that a guard named Satish had beaten the dog on the instructions from senior university and administration officials. This a crime under IPC 429.”

Probing the matter, police said that they have received the complaint and that questioning is underway to ascertain sequence of incident. “We have received the complaint and have seen the video also. We have called the college staff and guards and they are being questioned. The content of the video and the complaint are being verified,” said a senior police officer.
