Delhi couple who duped 15 people of over Rs one crore held

NEW DELHI: A couple, who had fled from Dwarka area of south-west Delhi after allegedly duping almost 15 people of over Rs 1 crore in 2013, has been arrested, police said today.

The accused, Rajendra and Poonam, had allegedly duped people on the pretext of doubling their money and then fled to Dehradun after amassing the money, said a senior police officer.

They had "duped" 15 persons in 2013 but police kept a track and through technical surveillance, it was found that they are in Dehradun, he said.

Yesterday, their location was found to be in Najafgarh area of south-west Delhi and they were arrested, he added.

DCP Southwest Surender Kumar tweeted, "A couple Rajndra&Poonam,both proclaimd offendrs arstd by Dwk(N)police 4duping 15persons thru chit funds worth1Cr @DelhiPolice @LtGovDelhi (sic)".
