The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is all set to conduct the second job mela at Banjara Function Hall on Road No 12, Banjara Hills, on November 20 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
A special IT job mela will be held in January for candidates with BE, BTech, MCA degrees.
GHMC mayor M Majid Hussain told reporters that online registration for the job mela has evoked a good response with over 12,000 candidates applying for various posts.
He said that 5,500 applications were received for jobs in the IT sector alone. Therefore, GHMC has decided to conduct a special IT Job Mela in January next year. He said that the applicants would be intimated to attend next IT job mela through SMS.
Majid Hussain said that as many as 50 companies would be offering about 4,000 jobs to eligible candidates.
The GHMC authorities received 2,469 applications from SSC pass candidates, 808 from Intermediate, 651 degree candidates and 590 applications from those who completed professional courses.
Based on the qualifications, these candidates have been divided into three to four categories. Further, nearly 3,000 other candidates are expected to take part in walk-in interviews. The companies are expected to offer salaries ranging from Rs 8,000 to Rs 18,000 to these candidates depending upon their talent and they would have mandatory probationary period of six months to one year.
About the last job mela conducted by the GHMC in the old city, the Mayor said that of the 4,500 applicants, 2,200 attended the interviews and of them 1,198 were selected by different companies.
