Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi and GHMC Mayor Mohammad Majid Hussain, on Sunday, inaugurated a coin-operated purified water plant at Syed Nagar near First Lancers in the city. This is the second such plant in the city; the first was inaugurated in November at Mahboob Colony in Asif Nagar.

Speaking on the occasion, the GHMC Mayor said the main aim of the scheme was to provide safe drinking water to the poor in the twin cities. Asaduddin Owaisi had donated from his MPLAD funds for the plant, he said.

One can draw 11 litres of purified water by inserting one rupee coin in the machine, he added.

Asaduddin also laid the foundation stone for a community hall and distributed free notebooks among 600 poor students of Ahmed Nagar division.
