Christmas is the time to gorge on cakes and cookies and gift the same to our loved ones. But the cost of laying your hands on these could be more than what you are supposed to pay said officials of the legal metrology department who, on Monday seized various overpriced gift packs from bakeries.
Officials said that though they found weights to be accurate, bakeries were obscurely pricing gift packs and mentioning them separately on a sticker.
An official said after checking on the history of the bakery, they decide the degree of punishment. “If it the first case, it will be compounded, but if it is found that the management has been indulging in repeated offences, then the case will be forwarded to the court,” he said.
