2 government employees held for taking bribe

Two government officials and an outsourcing employee were caught by the Anti-Corruption Bureau officials in separate traps across the state since Monday night.

Deputy director of AP Khadi and Village Industries board, Adilabad district, M Rayappa was caught red-handed when he accepted Rs 22,000 as bribe near RTC bus station at Adilabad from a person. Rayappa handed over the money to P Suresh Babu, an outsourcing employee of the board, for safe keeping.

Rayappa took the money from a person to forward the beneficiary’s petition to the head office for sanctioning a subsidy amount of Rs 1.75 lakh, which is 35 per cent of the total loan amount under Prime Minister Employment Generation Scheme.

Both Rayappa and Suresh Babu were arrested and will be produced before a special court for ACB cases in Hyderabad, an official release said.

In another trap Monday night, divisional engineer of CPDCL at Dhone, Kurnool, V Prakash was caught taking Rs 60,000 as bribe from a person, Mahesh, to recommend his name for the post of a sub-station operator.

Prakash was produced before an ACB court at Kurnool.
