Car crushes baby to death

A 14-month-old baby boy was crushed to death under the wheels of a car at Srisainagar here Saturday.  Sathwik was the son of Pramod and Manjula. Pramod is a electrical tools merchant. The police, reportedly took the accused into custody in connection with the accident.

“At around 10.30 am, Sathwik was playing in front of his house when a car hit him. When the accident took place, Manjula was at home. Locals informed Manjula, and then shifted the boy to a hospital, where he was declared brought dead,” said alwal sub-inspector S Ramulu.

“The driver, Bablu, is the victim’s neighbour. To avoid a speed breaker, Bablu took another route to reach his house. As he neared him home, the car hit the boy. Bablu said he had failed to notice Sathwik on the road,” Ramulu said.

Based on the complaint, police registered a case under section 304 (a) (death by negligence) of the IPC against driver.  Police also took the accused Bablu into custody and he was questioned in connection with the case.
