Cabbie misbehaves with techie, held

The Raidurgam police arrested a 25-year-old cab driver who misbehaved with a techie and tried to kidnap her here Thursday. The police also seized the car belonging to a private travels.

Around 6.15 am Thursday, the techie and her friend went out for a morning walking.

As the duo reached IIIT campus, the cab driver, Khaleemuddin, followed them. Later he got down from his car and began behaving indecently, Raidurgam inspector A Balakoti said.

Khaleemuddin tried to kidnap the woman when she began to resist him. Local paper boys who were distributing newspapers noticed the incident and rescued the woman. The driver was beaten up and was later handed over to the police.

The police registered a case under Section 354 (assault or use of force with an intent to outrage her modesty) of the IPC.

Upon being questioned, Khaleemuddin confessed to his offence. The police also noticed that the driver was driving his vehicle without any valid documents.
