Brothel houses raided, 11 arrested, seven rescued

The Task Force police on Wednesday night conducted simultaneous raids on brothel centres, call girls centres located at various places in the city and rescued seven victims with the assistance of Helpline Vimukthi, an NGO.

As many as 11 brothel organisers, including one customer, were arrested. The police also seized Rs 20,950 and nine mobile phones from the organisers.

The north zone task force police conducted raids on a brothel house at Bowenpally, apprehended the organisers and rescued one victim.

The arrested have been identified as Kakuli Rai, 26, resident of PART, Swarnadhama Nagar, Bowenapally, Secunderabad, Sounya Ranjan Jane, 28, resident of Swarnadhama Nagar, Bowenapally.

The central zone task force police raided on another brothel house at Banjara hills. They took the owner of the brothel into custoday and rescued one victim. The arrested are -- Kummari Srinivas, 23, business, resident of Flora Apartment, Road no. 2, Banjara Hills, Kasi Balu, resident of Banjara Hills.

The police also raided on a brothel house located at another place in Banjara Hills. They arrested the organiser Naga Raju, 22, resident of Gandha Kutir apartment, Panjagutta and rescued one victim.

Meanwhile, the west zone police conducted raids on a brothel house in the limits of Panjagutta police station. The police arrested Kumar Swamy, 25, resident of Mahadeva residency, Erramanzil colony.

According to the police these brothel houses are being operated at different posh localities in the city by attracting innocent women from various places of Andhra Pradesh and other places in the country.

The organisers attract the customers by publishing phone numbers of the pimps on websites, newspaper advertisements.

Organisers reportedly procure sex workers from Mumbai, Kolkata, New Delhi, Assam, West Bengal and other districts of A.P.
