Cop sets self afire in front of police station

The Special Branch head constable attempted suicide by pouring kerosene and setting himself ablaze himself in front of the Uppal police station here Sunday, alleging that the police had failed to ensure justice to his sister, who was duped by her in-laws. Police noticed the incident and rescued him.

According to cops, Krishna, the head constable of Special Branch, had filed a complaint with the Uppal police, stating that his sister was cheated by her in-laws.

But the police had failed to look into issue. They said Krishna’s sister got married to Praveen a few years ago. Recently, Praveen died in a accident, after which Krishna got his sister married to another person against Praveen’s parents wishes.

Recently, Praveen’s parents obtained rs 10 lakh insurance amount after his death. Krishna demanded that Praveen’s parents give some of the money to his sister, but they denied.

Krishna then approached the Uppal police and lodged a complaint stating his sister was harassed by her in-laws. After the cops refused to register the case, Krishna came to police station and attempted suicide.
