A three-year-old girl was crushed to death by a mini bus  that belonged to a private school here Thursday. The accident took place at phase V of Miyapur police station limits.

She was identified as Gayatri, daughter of Naik Rao, resident of phase V, Miyapur.

According to police, on Thursday morning Gayatri, along with her elder sister and mother, had come to the bus boarding point.

After her elder sister Urmila, a class I student of Sri Sai School Miyapur, boarded the vehicle, the bus driver reportedly lost control over the steering owing to break failure and hit Gayatri. She came under the rear wheels of the vehicle and died on spot.

Police said the school recently hired the bus, which was in a rickety condition. The mother of the deceased and locals immediately detained the driver, but he managed to fled the spot while police were being informed about the accident.

Based on the complaint lodged by the Gayatri’s parents, police registered a case of negligent driving and investigation is on.
