Goethe-Zentrum Hyderabad as part of the Women’s March 2013 is conducting a one-day theatre workshop with Swar Thounaojam on April 4 and 5 from 10:30 am to 5 pm at the German institute itself.

Open to everyone on first-come-first-serve basis, those interested may register by sending in an email to Last day for registering for the workshop is April 2. For further information, contact or call 040 2335 0443.

The workshop will focus on the following process to reflect, explore and interrogate our bodies using performance language and see if we can work together to create an ensemble text or performance piece:  (a) personal objects of the participants to trigger various narratives of harassment, intimidation and violence; (b) memory exercises that focus on sights, sounds and feelings experienced by the participants in the immediate past; (c) theatre exercises that would physically enervate the participants and build group trust; (d) improvisation exercises that would allow the participants to imagine freely and take risks with their expressions - verbal and physical; (e) playwriting exercises to create original texts - this includes introducing the participants to existing texts and encouraging them to interpret and adapt the texts  on their own terms; (f) trust exercises to discuss personal experiences. It is not aimed at correcting social behaviour of the participants. It is aimed to fire their imagination and allow reflection, exploration and interrogation

To better understand Swar Thounaojam, you can catch her performance on April 3 at NIFT, Madhapur at 7 pm.
