Finance minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy has said that Seemandhra Congress legislators and ministers will echo the feelings of the people of Andhra and Rayalaseema when a discussion takes place on Telangana in the State Assembly.

In an informal chat with reporters at the Secretariat on Saturday, Ramanarayana Reddy said that AICC leader Digvijay Singh had clearly said that there would be no whip and the members could express their opinions freely on the floor of the House. However, Anam, hastened to add that they would abide by the decision of the CWC.

“We have three issues on hand. We respect the CWC’s decision. But, we will tell the Congress high command our aspirations and explain possible losses in the event of the state being divided. It is nothing wrong to say our opinion to the party high command. At the same time, we have to respect the views of our people,” the finance minister said.

He claimed that chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy was a champion and they were all working under his leadership.

“Even 60 days after the CWC decision, the government could not take a step forward on Telangana. It means that the Congress is beginning to understand the concerns of Seemandhra. But, I cannot predict the future. We have to wait and watch for the ultimate decision of the Congress on bifurcation,” he remarked.

It was a hectic day for the minister on Saturday. He called on governor ESL Narasimhan.
