MIM Rigged Polls in Karwan, Says BJP

Accusing MIM of indulging in mass rigging in most of the booths in Karwan Assembly constituency in the just concluded polls in Telangana, BJP Telangana unit chief G Kishan Reddy has demanded the Election Commission to countermand the polls in this Assembly constituency and conduct repolling. Speaking to reporters here on Sunday, along with former MLA and party nominee from Karwan Assembly constituency Badam Bal Reddy, Kishan Reddy said that the MIM workers openly rigged in most of the polling booths with the support of police and poll officials. ‘’Though we brought to the notice of the Election Commission about mass rigging by MIM and even wrote letters to chief election commissioner and chief election officer no action was initiated. Even till today the commission had not responded to our complaint,’’ Kishan pointed out. He said that as more than 60 percent of the booths were rigged the EC should countermand the polls and order repolling in Karwan. Badam Bal Reddy said that MIM members not only rigged the polls but also assaulted AAP and an independent candidate when they tried to stop them from rigging. He said that despite submitting all the required evidence against the MIM workers it is surprising to note that the EC did not take his complaint seriously and was maintaining silence. He said that if the poll results does not come in his favour then he would approach the court. Kishan Reddy said that there are about 40,000 Home Guards working in the state, who along with the police personnel were deployed for election duty and due to which they were not able to exercise their franchise. He urged the EC to provide postal ballet facility to Home Guards also. Alleging sand mafia’s role in the accident involving BJP Sircila assembly nominee Akula Vijaya’s husband, Kishan Reddy urged the government to order a CB-CID probe into the incident. ‘’Vijaya’s husband was trying to expose sand mafias of Karimnagar and he was even threatened by them several times. My firm believe is that they are behind the accident,’’ he said.

Kishan to visit Varanasi

Kishan Reddy would campaign for the party’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, who is contesting from Varanasi Lok Sabha constituency, from May 7. He said that there are sizable population of Telugu- speaking people in Varanasi and he would campaign there. ‘’Polling will be held on May 12 in Varanasi and I would be campaign from May 7,’’ he said.
