Home Ground

Avoid dealing with brokers and find a roof by logging on to these user-friendly apps
Home Ground

Pushing aside real estate brokers, apps have been helping users find homes on the go. While older players like Sulekha, OLX and Quikr are still preferred, dedicated apps like 99acres and MagicBricks are hot favourites, too. We look at the new bunch with interesting features like augmented map sync and swipe search.

Rento

Launched this month, it is an offshoot app of Metroplots. With map sync and filters (rent, size, location and more), Rento covers all metros. It has a simple interface and provides in-depth details about registered properties, including maintenance costs, power backup and other amenities. Android 2.2 and up.

Common Floor

The map feature that supports augmented reality is impressive. Users can also join apartment communities and share property details with friends and relatives. It is available in over 200 cities and has over a crore homes listed. And it has a separate community app, CommonFloor Groups. Android 3.0 and up.

Realtor.com

Its cool feature allows you to draw your custom search area on the map, instead of typing multiple search points. Plus, a smooth swipe action allows you to flip through options quickly. Once you’ve signed in, you can access your saved data from any device. Want a property near a school? The app has a dedicated filter for that, too. Available for Android and Apple devices.

Property Search

Its latest version comes with a much better interface and improvedmap syncs. While properties are updated daily, filters are narrowed down to even the kind of furniture required. We like the ‘Favourites’ option and the fact that it is ad-free. Andriod 3.0 and up.
