HYDERABAD: Revenue staff boycotted duties in all mandal offices in Hyderabad district and staged a protest demonstration at the Collectorate here on Thursday to condemn the attack against Bahadurpura tahsildar Hasina Begum.

Hasina Begum was assaulted by some unidentified persons on Wednesday while she was going home. She was hospitalised. Recently Himayatnagar tahsildar and Asifnagar deputy tahsildar also faced similar problems. If the situation continues, the already overburdened revenue staff cannot work, cautioned K Ramakrishna, president of Tahsildars Association, Hyderabad.

To condemn the increasing attacks on revenue staff and highlight their problems, Revenue Employees’ JAC and Telangana Gazetted Officers Association staged the protest. The reason behind increasing conflicts between public and the revenue staff is due to delay in services provided by revenue staff, which in turn is being caused due to hectic work as a result of regularisation. As majority of staff are held up in regularisation work for most of the time, regular works like pensions and food security cards have been pending.
