Rapists in Viral Videos Arrested?

HYDERABAD:Social activist Sunitha Krishnan, who had last month circulated rape videos on WhatsApp and launched a campaign to bring the rapists to book, said Thursday that three of those involved in the crime had been apprehended.

She took to Twitter to tweet a thank you for the public support to her campaign and reveal the arrests. When contacted, she refused to divulge further details and said it was best to wait for the matter to be heard in court. “Tomorrow, the CBI will present the case in the Supreme Court, and once the information is made public, I can reveal the details,” said Krishnan, adding that she had tweeted the news as she couldn’t contain her excitement. However, CBI spokesperson Kanchan Prasad told Express, “No arrests have been made so far. The court’s hearing will take place on Friday but there have not been any arrests.”

On February 6, Sunitha Krishnan started #ShameTheRapists campaign after sharing two separate rape videos on WhatsApp. Subsequently, the Supreme Court decided to take up the case.
