Actress Lakshmi Manchu was unanimously elected as vice- president for the Movie Artists Association (MAA). Manchu, who has acted in Telugu films has replaced her brother Vishnu Manchu as the vice-president this year.
In other posts, thespian Tanikella Bharani was elected as the executive vice-president, Shivaji Raja as the general secretary and comedian Ali was given the post of Secretary for MAA. All the posts for this year’s MAA elections were decided unanimously and an election will take place to choose the president on March 29.
According to inside sources, the race for the President will be closely contested between actress-politician Jayasudha and veteran actor G Rajendra Prasad. While incumbent president Murali Mohan has given his backing to Jayasudha, Rajendra Prasad seems to have the support of the Mega family.
