Remind’em

How many times has a friend asked you to remind him/her of an important meeting or you’ve had to act as the wake up call for a friend who never makes it on time to work? Well, there’s a brand new app that will do this work for you - Remind’Em. Developed by three ex-Amazon guys from Hyderabad, the free app lets users set reminders for others, instead of themselves. The Remind’em app offers two interesting features for users currently. The first is the time-based reminders. This form of reminder lets the user compose a reminder, set a date, time and description to it, and add multiple alerts to it. Once the reminder has been set, the user can then send it across to a friend. This will automatically set an alarm on the user’s friend’s phone for that specific time. So for instance, if you wish to wake someone up, you don’t have to stay up yourself anymore. Just set up a reminder for them and they’ll get an alarm on their phone. The second feature is location-based alarm. This alarm is set off when the person arrives at a particular location that has been geo-tagged in advanced by the user for his/her friend. So if you’d like to remind your room-mate to pick up groceries for you next time she’s at the supermarket, this app should help you.  Available on: Google Play

Weather: Universal Forecast

A weather app that guarantees users temperature readings, accurate to one one-hundredth of a degree - Weather: Universal Forecast is probably the most colourful and accurate weather app you’ll own. And being absolutely free, this one’s already become a hot favourite. The app unlike most weather apps that give you data for upto a week, gives you a complete weather forecast for nine days ahead. You can add or delete as many cities you want to. The colours and graphics change according to the weather. Users can toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius. You can also get all details like humidity, wind, and pressure. Also, choose between hourly or daily weather updates. And it’s extremely light weight won’t burden your phone memory either. Available on: iTunes and Google Play

Wikiwand

Most of us manage to get by our daily lives just a teeny little bit with the help of our friend in need, Wikipedia. A new app overhauls the Wikipedia’s rather generic and dull interface into a radically new design, making the website more accessible and pleasing to eye as well. Claiming to be the fastest way to find answers on the go, the app has a powerful multi-language supported search system. The app also comes with a quick facts panel, so you can get the gist of an article without having to wade through tons of information. It also lets you preview links within the same page for a quicker and neater experience of the articles. The app also features in-article searches. But what’s definitely the most interesting feature of Wikiwand is its sleek and beautiful design. From the clean article display to gorgeous typography, these guys have nailed it. There’s also an immersive photo gallery with filmstrip navigation that’s been made available. Users can also browse articles around them, on an interactive map. Available on: iTunes
